"I picked a raspberry once in Herbology and it made the rudest noise!"
— A Hogwarts student discussing Herbology[src]

The raspberry is the edible fruit of a variety of flowering plants.[2]

History

Raspberries were used in Cream Crowdie, the favourite desert of Sirona Ryan. At the request of Sirona's friend, Bess, the house-elf Feenky was able to find raspberries out of season to make the desert for her birthday.[3]

Raspberries were grown by Pomona Sprout in the Hogwarts greenhouses for use in potions. During the late 1980s, she let Jacob's sibling and Lenny Pindlebrook pick some to make Raspberry Ice Mice.[4]

On 31 July 1991 in Diagon Alley, Rubeus Hagrid brought Harry Potter ice creams that had raspberries while they were shopping for Harry's school supplies.[5]

A magical variant of the raspberry existed, which made rude noises when picked. They were kept in the Hogwarts greenhouses and studied in Herbology.[1]

In 1996, raspberry was Albus Dumbledore's favourite flavour of jam.[6]

Berry Bliss, a blend of herbal tea made by the Muggle company Pollington & Newman's, contained or was flavoured with raspberry, in addition to strawberry and cranberry.[7]
